7th New Jersey Infantry Chaplain's cover



Soldier’s cover, Washington, D.C. circular date stamp postmark and “Due 3”, franked by Rev. Dr. Julius David Rose, Chaplain in the 7th New Jersey Infantry.
Rev. Rose was an episcopal clergyman, founder of Matthew’s Episcopal Church in Newark, NJ. He was cited for bravery at the battle of Williamsburg during the Civil War.
Cover has some staining.
