Merriwether Thompson (Jeff) (1826-76), Brig. General, Missouri State Guards and guerrilla fighter known as “Swamp Fox”. 1864 Missouri Raid.
Autograph Letter Signed (ALS), 3 pages, 4to., Steamer “Pargoud” near Providence, Louisiana. Saturday night, Feb. 21st, 1874 pertaining to New Orleans Levees, their condition, need of new and larger ones, their importance etc. Thompson signs as Chief State Engineer.
